Exterior Cladding and Paving Restoration
Kealy Construction completed a comprehensive stone restoration at Apple The Grove, covering both the exterior cladding and paving and the interior granite floors of this iconic retail location. The scope spanned the Apple Castagna limestone logo wall and flanking columns, the surrounding exterior granite paving, and the flamed Bianca Cristal granite of the interior sales floor — work that demanded specialized expertise, careful coordination, and constant protection of an actively operating store.
Rust staining on the exterior had to be addressed without bleaching the stone or compromising the sandblasted finish — a real risk when iron-removal solvents are over-applied or surfaces are over-agitated. Our stone masonry team used a controlled combination of specialty tools, targeted sandblasting techniques, and chemical treatments to remove the staining while preserving the original texture and tone of the limestone, returning the surface to its intended appearance without artifacts of the cleaning process.
On the vertical stone surfaces — the Apple stone logo, left column, and right-side column — we restored the Castagna limestone by removing damaged or failed caulking and pointing materials, re-sandblasting affected areas, and resealing the stone with Dry-Treat Stain-Proof Sealer. All joints were recaulked using approved sealant and specified aggregate so the repaired sections matched the existing surrounding conditions and read as a continuous, original surface.
For the exterior granite paving, our team applied specialized cleaning solutions with controlled brushing equipment to lift staining and surface contaminants without damaging the finish. Damaged or failed caulking and joint materials were removed and replaced as needed, affected areas were refinished where required, and the paving was resealed with Dry-Treat Stain-Proof Sealer and re-caulked with approved sealant to ensure long-term durability and consistency with the existing exterior finishes.
Inside, our team executed a comprehensive deep cleaning with a light honing of the flamed Bianca Cristal interior granite, ensuring the existing 4–5-year-old pavers blended seamlessly with newly installed sections around the interior trees. Careful protection measures were implemented for client furniture and product displays throughout the work, the store remained fully operational, and the space was turned back over each morning clean, presentable, and fully prepared for the following day’s business.
Roof Leak Inspections, Preventive & Emergency Maintenance
Kealy Construction performs roof leak inspections and preventive and emergency maintenance at Apple The Grove. Our scope includes detailed surveys of the membrane, flashings, drains, penetrations, and rooftop equipment, plus investigation and source-tracing of active or suspected leaks and the corrective repair work needed to keep this iconic storefront watertight.
Each visit is documented with photographs and condition notes so Apple’s facilities team has a clear record of the roof’s status and the work completed over time. Emergency response is provided within 24 hours, and all routine work is coordinated around store hours to avoid any disruption to customers and the surrounding outdoor retail environment.
Interior Ficus Tree Straightening & Restoration
Kealy Construction furnished all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision required to complete an interior ficus tree straightening and restoration project at Apple The Grove. The live trees inside this iconic retail space had drifted out of vertical alignment over time, and the assignment called for bringing them back to proper position safely, durably, and without disrupting daily store operations. The work was carried out across multiple overnight shifts in March 2025.
The first phase involved careful removal and proper disposal of the existing stone pavers surrounding each tree box so the team could access the tree pits for stabilization. Each removal was sequenced to keep the rest of the sales floor clean and walkable, with paver material handled and disposed of in accordance with site protocols.
Stabilization was achieved by installing tie-down anchors within the tree pits, fitting tree support straps and turnbuckles, and adjusting the hardware as required to bring each ficus back to proper vertical alignment. The straps and anchors were tensioned for long-term stability rather than a quick correction, ensuring the trees would hold their alignment well after the project was complete.
A specialty soil blend was then placed within the upper approximately 18 inches of each tree pit, with additional soil added as needed to lock in the new positioning and support healthy root function. The existing irrigation piping inside each tree pit was inspected after the adjustments to verify the system remained fully operational, so the trees would continue to receive water on schedule.
Temporary pre-painted gray wood flooring covers were installed over the open tree pit areas during construction to maintain safe walking surfaces and keep the store presentable while work was in progress. Once stabilization was complete, new stone pavers were installed around each tree box and sealed on site, restoring the surrounding floor to its finished retail appearance.
Floor protection and other protective measures were implemented throughout to safeguard adjacent finishes, displays, and product. Continuous on-site supervision coordinated activities, maintained quality control, and ensured safe execution within an active retail environment — keeping disruption to store operations to a minimum from the first night through final paver sealing.
Texston Tadelakt Lime Plaster Restoration
Kealy Construction completed the full restoration of the Apple Cube Texston Tadelakt lime plaster finish at Apple The Grove, covering both the interior and the exterior of the cube. The scope included repairing cracks, removing scuff marks, and carefully preserving and reintegrating the Apple logo into the restored surfaces. Every affected area was prepared with precision, and surrounding surfaces were meticulously protected throughout the process so the surrounding storefront remained pristine.
Given the highly specialized nature of Tadelakt lime plaster, the restoration required expert surface preparation, precise material matching, and skilled finishing techniques to maintain the original appearance, texture, and durability. Anything less would have read as a patch rather than a restoration, so each step was executed with the level of craftsmanship the original installation deserved.
Execution demanded seamless coordination by Kealy Construction among multiple parties, including the Apple Store and Facilities team, the Texston plaster manufacturer, and our in-house artisan plaster crew. Access to all elevations was safely facilitated through the use of scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other specialty equipment, allowing the work to be completed efficiently and without compromising quality or store operations.
